When I first heard about the Erasmus Mundus Master in Membrane Engineering for a Sustainable World (EM3E-4SW) program, I knew it was exactly what I wanted to pursue. The opportunity to study in some of the best universities in Europe, learn from renowned professors in the field, and be part of a diverse and international community of students was too good to pass up.
I applied to the program and was overjoyed to find out that I had been selected as one of the 15 students from all over the world to receive a fully funded scholarship. This was a dream come true for me, as a student from Pakistan, to have the opportunity to study and live in Europe.
My journey began at the University of Montpellier in France, where I spent the first semester of the program. The university had state-of-the-art facilities and the professors were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. I was able to learn about the latest research and technologies in membrane engineering, and I was able to apply what I learned in the lab.
The second semester took me to the University of Chemistry Technology in Prague, Czech Republic. This was a completely different experience from France, and I loved it. The university was located in a beautiful city and the culture was so different from what I was used to. I was able to learn about different technologies and techniques used in membrane engineering and the professors were very approachable.
The third semester was spent at Nova University in Lisbon, Portugal. This was my favourite semester, not only because of the beautiful city but also because of the practical application of what I had learned in the previous semesters. I was also able to conduct my master thesis at iBET, an internationally renowned research institute in Lisbon.
Apart from studies, I had the opportunity to travel to 13 different EU countries and experience the local food, music and culture. I made friends from all over the world, and it was truly a life-changing experience.
In conclusion, my journey as an Erasmus Mundus Scholar was an unforgettable experience. The program not only provided me with an excellent education in membrane engineering, but also gave me the opportunity to see different parts of Europe, make friends from all over the world, and learn about different cultures. I am truly grateful for the opportunity and I would recommend the EM3E-4SW program to anyone who is interested in membrane engineering and sustainable development.
